Submissions

We publish short fiction, poetry, personal essay/memoir, visuals, book reviews and scholarly essays for a general audience. From the Iliad to Platoon to The Things They Carried, war and art have reflected one another. It is this intersection of war and art that WLA seeks to illuminate.  

Only one copy of a manuscript is required along with a letter-size SASE (we recycle rejected manuscripts). We do our best to respond within six months and accepted material is generally published within one year of acceptance. Because WLA is published with government funds, the material published is "public domain."
